Human Resiliency Institute on Pittsburgh Business Radio

The Human Resiliency Institute will implement it's "Resiliency Edge" program, already successful in New York City area airports, at Pittsburgh International Airport. The program is delivered in three parts, designed to give airport and airline employees the tools to do more with less- so that they can operate efficiently, enthusiastically, and be more productive in today's tough economy.

Click here to hear the broadcast on Pittsburgh Business Radio.

The Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham University's Graduate School of Education was developed to expand upon the scope and reach of the resiliency work of the Reclaiming The Sky Institute, which was developed post-9/11 to help airports and airline workers recover, and then to expand upon that foundation to promote "resiliency" of front-line work staff who must meet pressing challenges in aviation today. The Institute operates in conjunction with GSE's Human Resource Education Master's Program in the division of Educational Leadership, Administration & Policy.

REMINDER: GSE at the National Gallery of Writing

National Day on Writing
October 20th, 2009

The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), in partnership with organizations around the country, has declared October 20th, 2009 the National Day on Writing.

As promoted by NCTE, the National Day on Writing will:
Celebrate the foundational place of writing in Americans' personal, professional, and civic lives.
Point to the importance of writing instruction and practice at every grade level, for every student, and in every subject area from preschool through university.
Emphasize the lifelong process of learning to write and composing for different audiences, purposes and occasions.
Recognize the scope and range of writing done by the American people and others.
Honor the use of the full range of media for composing.
Encourage Americans to write and enjoy and learn from the writing of others.

The hope is to collect a variety of writing from all walks of life and to display the diversity of composing that takes place in and around the United States. You can read more about the National Day on Writing here.

The Fordham GSE Gallery will highlight the writing of faculty and staff of the GSE, students and alumni of the GSE, the elementary and secondary students of our teachers, and other colleagues and family members of our community. To get involved:

Make an assignment for your students to submit their writing to the Fordham GSE Gallery.
Create a sub-gallery for your school to the Fordham GSE Gallery.
Submit your own writing to the Fordham GSE Gallery.
Tell everyone you know about the National Day on Writing and the Fordham GSE Gallery!
